An example of this is our collaboration with AFIM, a non-profit foundation with the mission of helping, training and integrating people with some kind of disability, whether physical, intellectual or sensory. AFIM has been supporting young and elderly people with disabilities in standardization, job training and social integration for more than 20 years.
In Transportes F. Ramos we have collaborated with AFIM Foundation through economic donations for many years, since it seems to us a great initiative to help this type of groups. We must be aware that people with disabilities are a group with a greater risk of social exclusion, however, they are equally valid and should have the same opportunities as other people.
1/3 of people with disabilities are at risk of poverty or social exclusion
According to Observatorio de Discapacidad Física, disabled people over the age of 16 are most at risk of poverty or social exclusion, both in Spain and in the European Union. In fact, 1 out of 3 people with disabilities is at risk of social exclusion. Fortunately, this situation is greatly reduced after social transfers, which highlights the importance of benefits, pensions and charitable foundations.
Some interesting facts:
In this context, the AFIM Foundation is launching a series of activities aimed at people with disabilities, such as cognitive stimulation programs, inclusion workshops, pre-employment workshops, a direct care service or a training fellowship program, among others.
